Design for a new fountain project Comes To Life!!!

What began as a sketch and then a small sculpture is now done in full marble and installed and running at the Berwick Retirement House on Shelbourne and Feltham, right here in Victoria. My little sculpture traveled all the way to China, where it became this giant marble piece, which was then shipped back to Victoria. Obviously in a much bigger crate than the shoebox it left in.

Reclining Nudes

I did these a few years back, but never got around to posting them. Each piece is 12 x 48 inches, oil on canvas.
I was trying to teach my students a simple concept in life drawing. Women are Jaguars and men are Jeeps.
So when drawing women the work comes from the shoulder and elbow, rounded and flowing, when drawing men, it comes from the wrist, short and sharp, angular. I used those techniques to paint a woman, sharp /round, soft/hard. It was a wonderful experiment, but judge, as always, for yourself.
